Turtles eating mango

Feeding time for this group of tortoises at Laberinto Tropical! This is the largest area that housed many of the "turtles". It was fun to watch one of the animal caretakers gather them all together to feed. I guess it would have taken too long for them to get there on their own! Some, I think, were sleeping. :-) At first they were all gathered in a circle around the fruit scraps, but the smallest turtle climbed onto the pile of mangos, and then she spread out the food so all the tortoises could more easily get some. The animal care taker of the zoo who was feeding them said the little one always does that, and the largest ones eat last. I guess they have a harder time fighting into the crowd of turtles. They seemed to really enjoy the sweet fruit.
