I LOVE Venezuela, and especially Margarita Island! Wonderful beaches, waters, resorts, and we really love the friendly people. We have lots of amigos in several places. We hope to someday spend a few years in the area.
I am glad that something is being done to expose the many wonderful features of the Caribbean's secret.... Margarita. I know that many people fear that tourism will destroy the island, but I have seen the island destroying itself. I am glad to learn that the residents are working so hard now to clean up the island. It wasn't tourists who spread all the trash. Most tourists are from countries where you get to pay a huge fine of money if you toss trash out the window of your car.
Perhaps tourism will help Venezuela's special place to work real hard to keep things clean and pristine. If Margarita is to be saved from destruction, it is likely that only tourism will do the job.
