MARGARITA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PHOTOS Fotos del Aeropuerto Internacional General en Jefe Santiago Mariño
The airport at Margarita Island is located in the south part of Margarita. It has two terminals, one for domestic flights, and another one for international flights, which mostly come in from other Caribbean islands. Most of the traffic is of course between Margarita and Caracas. The airport's full name is "Aeropuerto Internacional General en Jefe Santiago Mariño", which means it is international airport named after the general Santiago Mariño.
The airport is more modern and cleaner than most of the airports in the Caribbean region. It has several nice shops and eating places to occupy your time while you wait. The outside is always lined with taxis and fares are cheap to American or European tourists. However many taxi drivers don't speak English.
The airport has a website at www.aeropuerto-margarita.gob.ve, where you can check incoming and outgoing flight schedules, see a list of of stores, travel agencies, and car rental agencies, and other information (in Spanish).
You will probably arrive to Margarita from Caracas. The Caracas airport is not actually located in Caracas but a little ways off in a town called Maiquetia, and the airport itself is titled Aeropuerto Simon Bolivar. It has its own website at Aeropuerto-maiquetia.com.ve.
You can also check online the various local (Venezuelan) airlines that fly from Caracas to Margarita:
